In “Cops Are Cool!”, the author shares the powerful message behind a young Black girl’s drawing created not for a class assignment, but from her own belief that police can be part of a positive future. Laila Alexander didn’t just illustrate a police hat; she claimed space in an ongoing conversation about community, identity, and possibility, challenging adults to honor courage, creativity, and intention over division. Her choice reflects a deeper call to see and nurture good in the world, especially through the eyes of the next generation. 

“What He Never Had, He Became” tells the story of a man who chose to break the cycle of absence and leave behind the legacy he never received. Rather than repeat the void of his own upbringing, he became the presence, love, and consistency he once longed for, showing that legacy isn’t inherited, it’s intentionally built through daily care, courageous presence, and a steadfast commitment to family and community.

“This Is What It’s Supposed to Be” captures a night at John G. Riley Elementary in Tallahassee where Gentleman’s Night became more than an event. It became a declaration of presence, pride, and intentional fatherhood. Fathers, mentors, and community members showed up, not for applause, but to be present with their sons, learning, creating, and growing together. In the room filled with laughter, painting stations, workshops, and shared moments of humility and pride, the gathering became a living testament to legacy-building in real time, an embodied reminder that love, service, and community are what transformation looks like.
